I had a question from Sonya about what can I eat if I go to McDonald's. As you know, I'm a big advocate for being organized. Being prepared and planning ahead makes it so much easier to stick to your meal plan. So if you know what to order before you go into McDonald's you'll be able to stick to your plan.

Maybe you're on a road trip and the only place to stop for food is one of the service stations or maybe the kids have convinced you to go on an occasional treat so you end up at McDonald's. Don't panic. You can do this. You can stay on track. All you need to do is to know what to avoid and what are your best options and I'm going to tell you.

First up, what to avoid. Forget the fries, deny the deserts, and refuse the wraps.

I'm excited. So Kaz, what CAN I have, I'm hungry?

McDonald's have contacted me and have confirmed that their burgers are 100% beef, Australian beef, which is great. That means that the burger itself is fine. It's the buns that are full of the carbohydrates.

When you're ordering at McDonald's you can actually order the burger without the bun.

I've just been there and bought a few so I can show you what it's like.

Big Mac

First of all I got the Big Mac, who doesn't love a Big Mac, without the bun. So of course you get "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickled onions on a sesame seed bun"…  I still remember that from when I was about 7 years old!   Now the sauce does have some sugar in it so it does have a few carbs, but not too bad. But if you want to be really strict just ask for it without the sauce.  McDonald's are more than happy to help you.

Mighty Angus Burger

Then we got a Mighty Angus Burger that’s got the burger, some cheese, some red onion, and some bacon.  Great for low carb.

Quarter Pounder

Then we got a Quarter Pounder. The Quarter Pounder has got the beef patty, cheese, and pickles, so no salad in this one, but it's still good protein.

Grand Angus Burger

The Most Powerful Weight Loss Trick (That Women Do Better Than Men)The better burger to order is the Angus Burger, the Grand Angus Burger. This one's got some more salad in it so it's got the protein, the vegetables and salad. Now if you're a little bit embarrassed to ask for a burger without the bun, just order the burger. It comes like this with the bun. What you do is just take off the bun, grab yourself a knife and fork, and then you're fine!  Easy peesy!

Your best meal choice out of everything on the McDonald's menu is the Chicken Salad. So this is the Grilled Chicken Salad or the warm salad and it comes like this. Inside you've got some lovely grilled chicken pieces and lots of salad.

McDonald's are really open about all their nutritional values within all their food. All you need to do is pop over to their website and I'll pop the link below and you can see what's in all their food. There you go. That's all you need to know to survive a trip to McDonald's. So dig in, I'm going to have my salad.
