Can I Eat Bread And Lose Weight?

Did you know that it could be bread that’s stopping you from losing weight?

It’s Kaz here from Kaz TV, and it’s Weight Loss Wednesday.  Today I will answer the question ‘Can I eat bread and lose weight?’

Why is bread bad for you, and why could it be stopping you from losing weight?

We all know that white bread has no nutritional value whatsoever. It’s just highly processed and full of sugar.

We’re encouraged to eat whole grain breads instead. Now, they’re better than white bread, but…

…are these whole grains good for us?

The fact is, all breads are high in carbohydrates which means they spike your blood sugar level up, and then when it drops back down again, you get hungry, and then you have more cravings, and want more high carb food.

While your blood sugar level is a high, your body produces insulin. While you’ve got insulin in your body, you don’t burn the fat.

“Then you have more cravings, and want more high carb food.”

When you’re trying to lose weight, you don’t want to be on that blood sugar roller coaster. You want to keep your body in fat burning mode the whole time. Soon after eating these high carb foods, you get hungry again, and then you get the cravings, and that’s just not fun when you’re trying to lose weight.

The sugars and the processing of these breads have an adverse effect on not only your weight, but your health.

So, can I eat bread and lose weight? – Probably not i’m afraid.

I have one member who used to eat the following:

2 slices of toast for breakfast

1 slice in a sandwich for a snack,

2 sandwiches (4 slices of bread) for lunch (salad sandwiches)

1 slice of bread with dinner

1 slice of toast for supper

That’s a whopping total of 9 slices of bread a day.  He weighing in at 170kgs they didn’t realise bread was one of the causes.  Cut the bread out and the result was… just under 20kilos lost in one month!  We were amazed.  I will cover their amazing story in an episode coming soon.  80 kilos lost in 13 months, maintaining it well… all by changing what is eaten, when it is eaten and moderate movement! – But that’s another story.

This is what I recommend on all of my programs. You can have one serve of good whole grain toast for breakfast with the protein served, and stay away from the white bread. Now, you know what to do. If you like this, like us on Facebook and comment below. Tell me, do you eat a lot of bread?

    When choosing bread for weight loss, make sure you are selecting high-quality bread that is packed full of fibre, minerals, vitamins and is low on the GI. Nice post.
