5 Ways To Stay Active With Your Family This Holiday

Hi girls, it’s Kaz here, from Kaz TV, and as you can see I’m still on holidays, but I had couple of minutes and I wanted to share with you five quick tips on keeping active and moving while on holidays.  I know it’s hard when you’ve got the kids, but this is a few ideas for you.

Tip One:  Grab a bat and ball, head down to the beach or get in the backyard or even after dinner head down to the park, play some ball games, whether it’s a cricket bat or a tennis racquet or any type of bat and ball game, or just a footy, kick it around and get moving, the kids will love it, and you will two.

Tip Two:  Adventure.  Get out Google Maps, look for a new park in the area, write a little map (you could even make it a treasure map) and then go on a little adventure, pack a picnic lunch or a morning tea and get the kids on their bikes and scooters, the little ones in their pram, and off you go, ahoy me hardies, you’ll have a great adventure!

Tip Three:  Head down to the water, any type of water, whether it’s the beach, the local pool or wherever you’ve got some water, but don’t be precious, get your hair wet, get in the water and get moving.  You’ll be surprised how many muscles you use when you’re boogie boarding or how many muscles you use going down those slippery dips in the water parks.

Tip Four:  This is what I mean, get active.  Don’t be the boring mom on the sidelines.  Be the mom whose the one that’s in the water, whose the one playing cricket, the one whose riding the bike, be the one whose having fun.  Your kids will remember it forever.

Tip Five:  Remember, go early in the morning or in the afternoon, because it gets hot, we’re in Australia here and it gets hot, so slip, slop, slap, drink heaps of water, but the most important thing out of the whole lot is to have fun.  We’ve only got a short time of school holidays left and those kids deserve to have a fun, active, healthy mom.

    You crack me up Kaz. Your episodes make my week. I love being the active mum. I look at the mums sitting on the beach and feel sad for their kids. Get up, get active, get involved. It’s a legacy we mums an all leave our children. Taking the kids to the pool this Arvo. X

    Kaz, after watching this video I went out and played cricket with my two boys. The look on their face was worth it. After pick up at school the youngest ones teacher came over and said ‘I hear you’ll be playing cricket for Australia’! Its sad how as Mums we just seem to miss out on the active play.
